The world unites in World Glaucoma Week, March 10-16. This is a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association, whose objective is to raise awareness about the need to prevent blindness due to Glaucoma, the first cause of preventable irreversible blindness worldwide.
This year, in Ecuador, as part of the activities, we will illuminate in green two important monuments: The Middle of the World, which is latitude 0 on our planet where the hemispheres meet, and that of the Virgin of Panecillo, the tallest aluminum statue in the world which onlookers the city of Quito.
These two icons join another group of landmarks worldwide, which will also light up in green, the symbolic color of this initiative, as a demonstration of solidarity with the global community in this fight.
Together, let’s light up the way to a glaucoma-free world.
