Vintage Car Parade Bangalore

Over the course of the past two months, we have successfully conducted the following activities:

1. Glaucoma Awareness Talks across India: We organised 13 talks in different Indian cities other than our base city Bangalore, educating around 1100 people in organised sectors. These talks were conducted by student volunteers from professional education institutions and delivered by eye specialists, including the members and office bearers of the Glaucoma Society of India (GSI).

2. Free Eye Check-up Camps: In addition to our regular free eye check-up camps held every Friday at our medical center, we organised special Glaucoma Screening Camps on each Saturday in March 2024.

3. Public Awareness: To garner larger public attention to glaucoma, we organised a Vintage Car and Bike Parade on March 10, 2024, the first day of World Glaucoma Week. The event featured a brief talk on glaucoma by Dr. Gowri Murthy, and numerous posters and banners were used to propagate the message.

4. Media Coverage: The Vintage Car and Bike Parade event was widely covered by print and electronic media, helping to spread awareness about glaucoma to a broader audience.

5. Social Media Campaign: We launched a social media campaign featuring messages from GSI office bearers and various awareness messages, which effectively reached a large online audience.

6. TV Show on Kannada TV “Public”: A talk show featuring glaucoma specialists was aired on Kannada TV “Public,” covering a substantial number of viewers and promoting glaucoma awareness.

7. One-to-One Public Outreach: Our dedicated volunteers took to the streets, meeting common people and distributing glaucoma booklets to emphasise the importance of awareness and early detection.

8. Informative Materials: We widely utilised infographic standees, a 4-page booklet, posters, medicine disposing pockets, and TV screens to propagate the message about glaucoma effectively.

We are incredibly proud of the impact we have made during this year’s World Glaucoma Week, and we could not have achieved these milestones without your unwavering support. Your expertise, guidance, and collaboration have been invaluable in making these initiatives a resounding success.

GSI President Dr B K Nayak, Hon. Gen. Secretary Prof. M D Singh, Executive body member Dr Manju R Pillai & Dr. Sachin Dharwadkar, Dr Gowry Murthy and Dr Meghana Hiremath had actively participated on the programmes.

As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of combating glaucoma and promoting eye health. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the Glaucoma Society of India and working together on future endeavours to make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by this debilitating condition.
