Screening event, Television and radio interview
The Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria, Edo State Branch in collaboration with the University of Benin organized a glaucoma enlightenment programme on local Television and Radio stations to enlighten the public about glaucoma to mark year 2015 WGW with the theme “Beat Invisible Glaucoma” (BIG).
Two ophthalmologists spoke about glaucoma in both English and local language (pidgin english) for about 10 minutes each. The activity was carried out on Radio on Saturday 7th March and Sunday, 8th March on their local morning programmes. A television enlightenment program was done on Tuesday 10th March 2015. Following the enlightenment talk, members of the public were invited for a free glaucoma screening to take place on Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th March 2015 at the Professor Ayanru Ophthalmic Complex, UBTH. The management of the hospital supported this programme as part of their coporate-social responsibility.
