On March 3rd, 2024, Mahathma Eye Hospital commemorated World Glaucoma Week with a unique initiative by hosting the Go Green Glaucoma Cricket Championship and a free eye screening camp at Trichy’s Kallukkuzhi Railway ground. The camp was equipped with essential instruments, including Pachymeter, Advanced Visual Analyzer, Fundus Camera, NCT, and Slit Lamp. In total, 170 patients underwent screening during this event. This marked the 5th consecutive year of the cricket championship dedicated to glaucoma awareness, actively engaging both medical and non-medical staff. The tournament featured professional matches complete with umpires, cameras, unique cricket gear, and thematic jerseys amplifying the green glaucoma campaign. The trophies awarded during the championship were distinctly named with a glaucoma theme, reinforcing the campaign’s crucial message of raising awareness and promoting eye care. The Glaucoma Awareness Campaign concluded with an awards gala, blending trophy honours, an informative glaucoma speech, and a heartfelt vote of gratitude.
