World Glaucoma Week Awareness Campaign 2023

Awareness regarding Glaucoma is crucial amongst the Indian population because often patients are diagnosed late and end up requirung either glaucoma surgery or end up as bad prognosis. The need to creen at an early age and to look out for signs and symptoms pertaining to Glaucoma will not only help the prognosis f the patient but also lower the burden of costs on the health system as glaucoma is a life long progressive disease if not managed on time. So we the Ophthalmologists and budding Resident doctors at Jagjivan Ram Hospital came together to inform the general patients attending OPD about the importance of regular ophthalmology check up to screen and diagnose Glaucoma at an early stage. We presented a small powerpoint presentation and performed a small skit to convey the message in an easy and more interesting way. We made posters and printed out information sheets for patients attending our OPD along with the public awareness presentation. We at Jagjivan Ram Hospital stand together to help create more awareness and strive to diagnose glaucoma to give the best outcome to our patients utilising optimal medical and/or surgical management.
